PersonalOS Agent: a checkable tool-execution loop
Retrieval keeps sources, writes require confirmation, and failures stay explicit.
Retrieve, draft, confirm, then save
The module retrieves knowledge and articles and feeds tool results back to the model. Reading-note creation previews the content and waits for user confirmation before persistence.
The model requests; the server controls execution
- Tools and arguments
- Expose task-relevant tool schemas and validate tool visibility, argument types, required fields, and unknown arguments on the server.
- Execution and context
- Bound history, result length, and tool-call rounds. Return timeouts as explicit failure states.
- Persistence and confirmation
- Use the server-side preview during confirmation, handle cancellation, expiry, and repeated submission, and retain conversation and tool-call records.
Make failures explicit
Existing tests cover empty retrieval, malformed JSON, invalid arguments, tool timeouts, hidden tools, confirmation, cancellation, and duplicate writes. These check control flow; answer usefulness needs task-level evaluation.
Explicit boundaries have costs
Keyword-based tool selection can omit tools, history truncation can lose context, and confirmation adds a step. Next, evaluate omissions and recovery with follow-up questions and failed-retrieval cases.
Implementation and verification scope
Engineering evidence scope
This is a local PersonalOS application module. The case draws on tool interfaces, confirmation logic, and existing regression tests, without private knowledge, conversations, or credentials. Application tests were not rerun during this website edit; no production-scale or user-outcome claim is made.
